Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)A Strategic Housing Land Availability assessment (SHLAA) has been prepared for Rother District in accordance with Government policy and guidance, and with the Council's own methodology, as set out at appendix a in the Process Appendices below. The SHLAA forms part of the evidence base to inform preparation of the Local Development Framework. In the first instance, it will inform the distribution of development across the district in the Core Strategy. It will also inform preparation of the Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD). The SHLAA is not a policy document and does not determine whether a site should be allocated for housing development. Such decisions will be made through statutory Development Plan Documents, taking account of a range of policy and other development considerations and be subject to prior consultation. In order to help understanding of the scope and context of the SHLAA, a set of Frequently Asked Questions has been prepared. It is recommended that you review these before viewing the main SHLAA document and plans. The SHLAA demonstrates that there is a sufficient supply of deliverable housing land now for the next 5 years and that there are also sufficient suitable sites with housing potential such that the South East Plan housing requirements for the next 15 years can be met.
